How do you work with long term care insurance companies?

How do you work with long term care insurance companies?
I own an in-home elderly care agency, however, due to the fact that the services are expensive, most clients can’t pay out of pocket, so I need to begin billing their long term care insurance company.

I’m wondering, what is the process to begin working and getting paid from long term insurance companies?

  • contact their provider relations department and apply for a contract.

  • It is incumbent upon the policy holder or his responsible party to file a claim with the insurer. In the case of most policies, a physician will need to certify the need for care (usually two ADLs). Also, the policy must cover in-home care. Many still do not, or they allow a decreased benefit.
